It’s still cold and snowy outside, but Spring is just about here. If you’re having a Spring wedding, you’re in luck when it comes to your flower choices. There are numerous flowers available for you to create the best Spring bouquet! Here are some tips for you to keep your head from spinning too fast…
1. Decide on your wedding colors and take a look at the flowers you might like to incorporate in your bouquets. You don’t necessarily need to go with your wedding colors, it’s actually quite common to stray from them, so don’t worry if you can’t find flowers that match your girls dresses.
2. Decide on a budget for your flowers. Remember that this should include enough bouquets for you and your girls, flower girl, boutonnieres for the groom, his men, and the ring bearer, corsages for mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and any other special guests and boutonnieres for fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and any other special male guests. Any flowers you may want for your ceremony – altar arrangements, aisle markers, petals scattered in the aisl. You will also have to decide if you are going to have floral centerpieces, decide on how many. You may decide to do every other guest table and that’s it, or you may want flowers everywhere!
3. Make an appointment with some different florists. Going with a professional with a great reputation (that has done wedding flowers before) is HIGHLY recommended. Bring in any swatches or pictures of ideas that you may have for your bouquets and decor. Get quotes from 3 different companies. You may decide to go with the one with the best price, or the one you like best. Hopefully you’ll find one that you love and has the right price. ![]()
4. To help keep costs down, if you’re working on a tighter budget, use a couple of colorful, big head flowers then a lot of fillers to make your bouquet bigger. The girls bouquets could be smaller versions of yours, one stem with ribbon streamers hanging down, or a bunch of one flower (baby’s breath is a HUGE trend right now).
5. Trust your florist. Give them your budget, tell and show them what you love and they will be able to create floral arrangements, for any budget, any time of year. If there is a flower that you ABSOLUTELY must have in your bouquet (for example, you have your heart set on Peonies) then make sure to tell them this. Rely on your florist to incorporate the Peonies that you must have then fill the bouquet with the appropriate fillers to stay within budget.
